The Texas Transfers program is a Transfer-Year Interest Group (TrIG) designed to meet the unique needs of students transferring to UT. TxT places emphasis on university resources and addresses challenges that are unique to transfer students. Indicate your interest to your advisor during transfer orientation.
The program provides new transfer students with:
- A sense of community with a small cohort of fellow incoming transfer students.
- A peer mentor who was once a new transfer student.
- Transfer specific academic and career planning.
- Resources at the University and in Austin to help with a smooth transition.
- Access to a research opportunity within the first year at UT.
Seminar
The TxT program includes:
- A one-hour, weekly seminar in which students meet with their cohort, peer mentor, and academic advisor
- A natural science course (Biology and/or Chemistry) with a GREAT professor that they will share with other students in their cohort
- One-on-One time with their peer mentor
- Community events
Weekly transfer seminar may include:
- Peer-led tours of campus resources
- Health Profession planning information
- Career Services planning information
- Discussion of academic goals and supports
- Visits from professors
- Registration advising
- Overview of undergraduate research
