The Natural Sciences Advising Center works with more than 5,000 students across the College of Natural Sciences during their time in CNS.
Majors Served All Four Years
Students in the following majors and specialty areas are supported by our Center throughout their undergraduate experience at UT—from orientation through graduation.
Majors Served in Entry-Level
We also support students outside of Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Medical Laboratory Science and Neuroscience who are in the entry-level phase of their major or who have not yet declared a major. We are committed to supporting these students as their entry-level course requirements are met.
Majors outside Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Medical Laboratory Science and Neuroscience who work with an advisor in the Natural Sciences Advising Center during their entry-level coursework will eventually transition to receive advising support in the corresponding departmental advising center to their major. This transition will happen upon completion of entry-level requirements.
Note: Some CNS majors, including environmental science, computer science and textiles and apparel, are typically served all four years through other advising offices.
Astronomy, Math, and Physics Majors
All students who complete entry-level requirements for their astronomy, math, or physics degree are advised by the Math, Physics, and Astronomy Advising Center for their upper-division semesters.
School of Human Ecology Majors
All students who complete entry-level requirements for their human development and family sciences, human ecology, nutrition or public health degree are advised by the School of Human Ecology (SoHE) Advising Center for their upper-division semesters. Textiles and apparel students are served by this office all four years.

Computer Science and Statistics & Data Science Majors
The Undergraduate Computer Science and Statistics and Data Science Advising Center supports incoming computer science majors from orientation through graduation. Some students who are admitted to the Accelerated Transfer Program (ATP) may be advised first in the Natural Sciences Advising Center before transitioning to the departmental advising center.
All students who complete entry-level requirements for the Statistics & Data Science major are advised by the Undergraduate Computer Science and Statistics and Data Science Advising Center for their upper-division semesters.
